I can't believe I just typed that. Mid-2013.
That means its June. And halfway through June. Crazy.
LM1 finished kindergarten and is a graduate. :) And LM2 is 13 months old already!!
But we all know, time flies.
I thought it'd be good to take a look at my reselling biz and see how things are going for the year. Most of us set goals in January and recap at the end of the year, but I thought I'd better check on myself.
I found my beginning of the year post. You can take a look here.
It looks like one of my main goals was to get serious about selling my flatware. Well, how have I done? I've done okay, I guess. Not lately, however. I need to get back to listing it. When I list regularly, I can usually sell at least one listing a day. Sales in general have been slow, but Stainless Flatware is still my top performing category.
I've still been buying it. Sigh. Oh how I've been buying it. It's a sickness I tell ya!
So conclusion:
Keep working on this goal. Keep listing. List what I have, buy more selectively until I get more listed and things start selling again.
Okay, my other thought (not really a goal) from that post back in January was to stop selling clothing. Well that hasn't worked out. Hubby told me he doesn't mind listing it, so we've picked it up here and there. But, he hasn't had time to list...so we have quite the pile. ;) Oh well.
Now, new goals:
Keep listing. These slow times are temporary and soon the sales will start happening again. I need to be ready.
There's a flash sale website called Fab.com that I've had my eye on. They have a vintage category. You have to sign up and get approved to be a seller. From what I understand it's a lot of work and you need to have a LOT of inventory ready. I'd love to do it. But I think I need to work my way up to it. For one thing, I feel like I need to improve my photography, which leads me to my next goal.
Improve product photography. To that end, I already purchased a couple new vinyl photo backdrops. I first read about them on Adrienne's blog and saw how she used them in her awesome vintage shop: Old Vintage Goodies. I knew I had to get some of my own. I got mine from Swanky Prints. I immediately started playing with them and I love 'em!!
The top photo in this post is on one too. (yes, that's vinyl...not a peeling piece of wood) I think I may have to get a couple more...bigger ones too.
Okay. I'll try to keep you all posted. The accountability will help!
